Plisse is the cilantro of the fabric substrates. Either you love the pleats – or you hate them. In which team the women at Hello Heidi play is obvious. For us, plisse is something extremely cool, a fabric with history and a very special attitude. Unless you combine it with a bad perm, you can’t go wrong with pleated fabric.
We have decided on an almost organic looking pleated fabric. The pleats, which have been irreversibly placed in the fabric by heat, look less like an accordion and more like a tree bark. The fabric has the shine of satin without looking cheap. The pleats give it depth, the shine is followed by matte passages. We currently carry four shades.
- The pleats run at right angles to the selvedge. So the pleats are always 145cm high. You decide whether you sew a dress or a maxi skirt from the fabric – the height is sufficient for both variations.
- The selvedge is at the same time the later hem, no need to hem the seam.
- If you are unsure how much pleated fabric you need for a simple skirt, you should measure your hip. For example, if you measure 100cm at the widest point, you should definitely order a little more pleated fabric than just one meter. Normally the plisse must be shirred a bit.
- Since the fabric is made entirely of polyester, you can start right away; there is no need to pre-wash.
