Cotton Sateen Aqua Pond Old Rose

Our new Aqua collection was penned by Karina Petersen. Whereas – it was not a pen, but definitely a brush that the Dane used to create our latest fabric designs. In her work, the watercolour artist experiments with nuances and colour gradients, but also with water, the unifying element of her works.

We now show you two designs: Wave and Pond, in a way a dynamic and a static version of watercolour painting. Both designs are available in several colourways.

By the way, the print base of Aqua consists of a so-called ‘Cotton Sateen’. Sateen is a technical term for fabrics that have been mercerised. This is the name given to a finishing step in which the cotton is soaked in a lye. This causes the fibres to swell, making their surface denser. This in turn leads to a glossy effect that is so typical of this fabric quality. The pre-treatment has another positive effect: the printed image appears clearer, the colours shine more intensely (not in the sense of garish, but in the sense of luxurious) than with normal woven fabrics.

This makes aqua fabrics perfect for dresses, blouses and skirts.
